Location:

Port of Taipei locates in the northern part of Taiwan. It covers 3,102 hectares; the
total area is around five times that of Keelung Port. It lies on the south-western
estuary of Tamsui River, and facing west onto the Taiwan Strait with Kuan-Yin
Mountain as the barrier. The water depth of the fairway and the turning basin is -15.5~-17
meters and the Port of Fuchou in Mainland China is 134 nautical miles away to the
west. Therefore, the Port of Taipei is suitable for becoming the port in the north
Taiwan for ocean cruising and cross-strait direct cruises.

Planning:

Taipei Port was elevated to be the auxiliary port of Keelung Port on January 8th,
2004. After the completion of Construction Phase II, there will be 28 wharves (19
operational wharves and 9 port service wharves) in 2014, and up to 4,000,000 TEU of
containers will be handled each year.
In May, 2005, the Executive Yuan approved the application for establishing Free
Trade Zone of Taipei Port.
Built with Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT), Taipei Port Container Terminals are being
actively under construction; four wharves have been completed and are currently in
operation.
Taipei Port water area is extensive. It has great potential for future development.
